Reykjavík, Iceland's capital, could soon be host to the world's internet media if a revolutionary proposal put to its parliament is approved

Iceland could leave the world behind on the matter of press freedom if a proposal placed before its parliament, the Althingi, gets backing and becomes law. Hacienda Luisita's past haunts Noynoy's future - Part 1

The issues surrounding Hacienda Luisita are being seen as the first real test of character of presidential hopeful Noynoy Cojuangco Aquino, whose family has owned the land since 1958. The Press Photographers of the Philippines (PPP) mourn with a heavy heart the sudden and untimely passing of Press Secretary Cerge Remonde.

Surely, Secretary Remonde is a big loss for us at the PPP and the world of journalism as a whole.  Since he took over as Press Secretary he had been very supportive of our projects that were all designed to uplift the living conditions and protect the interests of the photo journalists especially the members of the PPP.

Despite being criticized often for his stand on various issues he never wavered in his commitment in protecting and defending press freedom in the country.

On behalf of the PPP, we wish to reiterate our condolences to his family and loved ones.   Sec. Remonde will be missed.  Paalam!   Gerardo N. CarualPresident
