Home Secretary slams judges for ‘ignoring’ deportation law on Article 8 Human Rights grounds

British Home Secretary Theresa May has accused judges of making the country a more dangerous by ignoring Parliament and rules aimed at deporting more foreign criminals.

Immigration Law Practitioner Cynthia Barker said: “New guidance has also been introduced by the UK Border Agency last year to refuse further leave to remain applications for migrants who have received a minor conviction or minor caution from the police and even a County Court Judgment (CCJ) for an unpaid debt.”…

Immigration Rules change following Pankina and English UK

Free Movement reports that the UK Government has laid a new Statement of Changes (HC 382) that incorporates the parts of the Points Based System policy guidance ruled unlawful in the Pankina and English UK cases.

Romanians in UK at risk of ‘racist attacks’ Ambassador Jinga warns

Wildly exaggerated predictions of an invasion of Romanian and Bulgarian migration to the UK are putting Romanians at risk of racist attacks, the country’s ambassador to London warned.

Are Bulgarian and Romanian workers really ‘nine times better off’ living in UK?

A report by the anti-immigration pressure group, Migration Watch UK claims that workers from Bulgaria and Romania may be up to ‘nine times better’ off by moving to Britain, assuming they enjoy a take home pay of £543 a week that is. But how realistic are these figures and with the UK’s much higher cost of living are Romanians and Bulgarians nine times better off?

For the workers who have been arrested and detained at an immigration detention centre, they can still seek legal advice to prevent their removal if they feel they have mitigating circumstances or human rights grounds, for instance if they are in a relationship and have a child in the UK

On the first day of his trade mission to India, Prime Minister David Cameron has announced details of a new ‘super priority’ visa service to enable Indian frequent travellers to have their UK visas processed in just one day.

The Migration Advisory Committee (MAC), which reports to the Home Office, last week advised that the number of specialist UK jobs which need to be filled by workers from outside the European Economic Area is falling.

Similar fixers have sprung up in the UK and Romania offering appointments in Croydon for Romanian and Bulgarian yellow and blue card applicants.
Romanian and Bulgarian BR1 applicants can expect to wait 7 months for a decision on their yellow or blue card postal application, so the temptation to pay a fixer for a same day service appointment is often irresistible.
