SAIPAN OFW's: Free Health Screening December 4th

The Philippine Consulate General in Saipan has announced a Free Health Screening Program for OFW's. This is for Sunday 4th December 2011 at the ground floor of the Maraianas Business Plaza Building.

Registration starts 6.30am and the screening will be from 7am till 12 noon. 

This free health screening program by the Philippine Consulate General (PCG), Philippine Overseas Labor Office (POLO), and Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) is done in cooperation with the Filipino Volunteer Medical Team, CNMI Pharmacist Association, Hardt Eye Clinic and volunteer Filipino community members.

The medical services include blood pressure, blood sugar,and eye-vision check-ups. OFWs who are availing of blood sugar level check-up must refrain from taking solid and liquid food from 12 midnight prior to actual testing until after blood samples have been obtained from them during the health screening.

Last September 04, 2011, a total of 387 OFWs were served. Of this number, 316 OFWs blood sugar and blood pressure were taken by medical volunteers. Hardt Eye Clinic served 17 eye patients.

This program is being conducted to increase the level of awareness on diabetes prevention and control, hypertension prevention and eye/vision pressure correction among the OFWs . Through this project, the Philippine Consulate General hopes to reach more and serve even if in a modest way, the medical needs, while fostering the spirit of volunteerism in the true spirit of Filipino bayanihan in Saipan.

Filipinos who wish to avail of other consular services, to include overseas absentee voters registration/certification, may proceed to the Philippine Consulate at the 5th Floor of the Marianas Business Plaza Building which will remain open for the duration of the Free Health Screening.
