Filipina Celia De Jesus (pictured above) tragically died in the floods that hit Ireland Monday. She was one of two people who died as a result of the heavy rains, the other one being a member of the Gardai (police) who was swept away in County Wicklow.

Celia's body was found in her basement flat in Crumlin, a suburb in the south of Dublin.

Neighbors had alerted emergency services of the possible tragedy, however it was not till the basement was pumped empty of water her body was discovered.

Celia Ferrer De Jesus (58) worked at the nearby Our Lady's Hospice in Harold's Cross in the Rheumatology department. She was married and from San Carlos City in Pangasinan.

It is understood she had been in Ireland several years and had recently gained Irish citizenship.

Her husband who came with her to Ireland is at present in PHL as their son is studying nursing there, and was due to return to Ireland after Christmas.

Her employer, the Our Lady's Hospice, issued a statement (reproduced below) which clearly expresses the shock they have felt at Celia's loss in the floods.

The floods were as a result of exceptionally heavy rain which hit Ireland and the west of England, dumping nearly a month's worth of rain in 24 hours.

The Irish policeman was named as Garda Ciaran Jones who was swept away while assisting a stranded motorist. His body was later recovered from a river.
