An Actor's Art

An Art Exhibition by Ms. Rebecca Grant
Dates: 5-15 July 2011
Venue: Embassy of the Philippines, 10 Suffolk St., London SW1Y 4HG
Filipino/British actress Rebecca Grant is to make her public debut as an artist. She has hitherto kept her art work under wraps and not publicised her nominations and national art prizes awarded by the likes of Prince of Wales and Princess Alexandra. Her vast and varied experience in theatre is the subject matter of her paintings in this exhibition.
Rebecca was predominantly brought up with Filipino values as well as being surrounded by the arts and music and dance of Philippine culture. Throughout her early years at school her individuality and ability in art was already evident. Her subject matters often depicted Filipino costume and paintings of tropical sunsets and nipa huts, palm trees and paddy fields whilst drawing inspiration and use of colour from celebrated Filipino artists such as Carlos V. Francisco and Juan Luna. Thanks to her rich cultural Filipino background, dance and art always came hand in hand, and after being made principal dancer for a leading Philippine dance troupe, she was propelled into Andrew L Webber's ‘Bombay Dreams'. She then moved onto a succession of other plays and shows including ‘One Flew over the Cuckoo's nest' starring Christian Slater then landing a series regular role in BBC's ‘Holby City'. This story of an Actor's Art begins.
Come and view an array of dynamic and individual work by Rebecca. All work will be exclusively for sale for this two week period only. We look forward to enjoying the presence of your company.

THE SAMBAT TRUST
Sambat Trust works with local education departments, rural communities and partner organisations to develop literacy and education in the Philippines.
We establish primary school libraries, provide teacher training and help families overcome the economic barriers that prevent their children from attending school.
We believe access to a quality education empowers Filipinos to improve their own lives, support their families and break the cycle of poverty in the country.
As of March 2011, we have established 5 primary school libraries, delivered over 17,500 children's books, trained 60 teachers, and granted 38 scholarships; 2,230 children now have access to a functional school library in the Philippines.
Sambat Trust is a registered charity in England and Wales No. 1137903
