Former Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Gen. Carlos Garcia has pleaded not guilty to the money laundering charges filed against him by the Office of the Ombudsman before the anti-graft court Sandiganbayan.
In a re-arraignment done by the Sandiganbayan 2nd Division headed by Associate Justice Edilberto Sandoval and members, Justices Teresita Diaz-Baldos and Samuel Martires, Garcia entered a “not guilty” plea to the charge of money laundering filed against him by the Ombudsman.
The Sandigan 2nd Division, which is already handling the State’s plunder case against Garcia, also got the money laundering case after it was raffled off by the anti-graft court.
The court decided to re-arraign Garcia after questions were raised over the propriety of its move to consolidate his money laundering case with his plunder case.
The former AFP comptroller was arraigned last December but the Sandiganbayan had set another arraignment which was done yesterday. Full Story »»»
