POWER OUTAGES TO REMAIN

Despite the reconnection of some plants in the Luzon grid, the power supply situation in Metro Manila and some parts of Luzon will continue to be unpredictable.

The National Grid Corp. of the Philippines (NGCP) said that as of 4:30 p.m. Thursday, the power supply in Luzon attained 83 megawatts (MW) of power reserves, a significant improvement from a generation deficiewncy of 446 MWs earlier.

San Miguel Energy Corp.’s Limay power plant (Block B) is already generating 200 MW and is expected to further increase its capacity to 270 MW within the day. It decreased its capacity earlier Thursday due to technical problems with equipment. FULL STORY
