A near shootout erupted Friday in Estacio, Iloilo between security escorts of incumbent Estacio town mayor Restituto Mosquea and former mayor Rene Cordero.
Chief Insp. Dwight Ponte, Estancia police chief, said the shootout nearly happened on Friday in Brgy. Bayuhay, Estancia when the group of Mayor Mosqueda and former mayor Cordero crossed path.
Ponte said it was not immediately known what triggered the exchange of verbal arguments between the two groups who had their firearms already drawn when they arrived.
He said that while police continued its investigation, one of Cordero’s men Ranie Balumni surrendered a handgun equipped with a silencer. FULL STORY
