The recent arrest in Pampanga province of three nationals of Guinea Bissau in West Africa and a Filipino woman, suspected of belonging to a drug-trafficking syndicate operating in Asia, was lauded by the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) --which said the “decisive action” by law enforcers should serve as a stern warning to those who have been victimizing Filipinos.
”It is also a reminder to our kababayans (compatriots) not to allow themselves to be willing victims in exchange for money,” DFA spokesperson Eduardo Malaya said.
The names of the suspects and the would-be trafficked victims were not released by the authorities. Their intended destination was also not identified, though authorities believe that the syndicate recruited them as drug mules for such countries as China and Malaysia.
