Balanga City to provide incentives to first 200 tricycle drivers that will convert to LPG
BALANGA CITY, Bataan
The city government is contemplating to provide incentives the first 200 tricycle drivers who will switch their units to liquefied petroleum gas (LPG).
Mayor Jose Enrique S. Garcia III said the city government will give P5,000 worth of incentive to the tricycle driver who is willing to convert his unit to LPG.
The incentive is aimed to encourage more tricycle drivers to convert their units from gasoline to LPG-powered ones, Garcia said.
He underscored the importance of the conversion to LPG from gasoline as the tricycle’s fuel would lower the level of harmful smoke emissions in the city.
"This is in line with our long-standing efforts to reduce carbon dioxide and other pollutants in the air," he said.
He also said that the conversion to LPG would help the tricycle drivers reduce their fuel costs.
At present, LPG price is lower than the usual gasoline products which automatically reduce the fuel expenses that translate to bigger take home earnings, he said.
On December 21, the LPG refilling station in the city will be inaugurated.
The station’s facilities were donated by the Liquigaz, an LPG company based in Mariveles town.
He expressed optimism that by December a good number of tricycle units shall have been converted to LPG fuel.
"We expect that it would not be lowered than 300 tricycle units that would be converted within a year," he added. (PNA)
